Event Management

One of the best things about being an event manager is the satisfaction of seeing all your hard work come to fruition. There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching guests have a great time and knowing that you were a part of creating that experience for them. Plus, the rush of adrenaline when you're troubleshooting a last-minute problem and managing to solve it seamlessly is pretty exhilarating. Of course, it's not all glamorous and there are plenty of stressful moments, but at the end of the day, being an event manager is a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

As an event supervisor, I may not have a cape, but I sure felt like a superhero. My powers included communication and teamwork skills, the ability to handle any issues that arose, and a talent for keeping guests happy. I learned the importance of clear and effective communication with both staff and guests, and how to work collaboratively with a team to achieve a common goal. Whether it was calming down an upset guest or saving the day when a catering order went awry, I was always ready to spring into action. Of course, it wasn't all glamour and excitement. There were plenty of behind-the-scenes tasks like meticulous planning and attention to detail that went into making the event a success. But seeing the happy faces of guests and the proud smiles of my team at the end of the day made it all worth it. And now, with my trusty toolkit of event management skills, I'm ready to take on whatever challenges come my way.

TED Countdown Summit 2021

Working at TED Countdown Summit was pure magic! The energy and excitement in the air were palpable, and it was amazing to see all of the pieces come together to create something truly magical. I was the go-to person for all attendee questions, and I made sure they felt like royalty.

But even amidst all of the chaos and excitement, I never lost sight of the importance of delivering excellent customer service. Whether I was helping an attendee find their way to a particular talk or simply lending a sympathetic ear to someone who needed it, I was always focused on making sure that everyone felt welcomed, valued, and taken care of.

Working at the TED Countdown Summit was an unforgettable experience and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The only downside was coming back to reality after feeling like I was living in a fairytale for a week!

TEDxSofia

Volunteering at TEDxSofia for three years was an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Not only did I get to be a part of an inspiring and thought-provoking event, but I also had the opportunity to meet some incredible people and learn from their stories and ideas. As I gained more experience and knowledge over the years, I was eventually promoted to head of volunteers for an event with over 600 guests.

In my new role, I was responsible for managing a team of 10 volunteers, ensuring that everyone knew their assigned tasks and that they were all stationed in the right places. It was a challenging but exhilarating experience, and I loved being able to contribute to the success of such an important event. Overall, my time at TEDxSofia taught me so much about leadership, teamwork, and the power of ideas, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

TEDxYouth@Uwekind

Organizing the first TEDx event at our school, TEDxYouth@Uwekind, was quite an adventure! As the event organiser and license holder, my team and I had to overcome many challenges to create a platform for young minds to share their ideas and inspire others through TEDx talks. But despite the challenges, we managed to pull off a fantastic event.

We invited speakers from various backgrounds to ensure a diverse range of ideas and perspectives. To create a fun and immersive atmosphere, we brought in live performers, activities, and food and drink stalls. Our team also managed the event logistics, ensuring every detail was perfect.

On the day of the event, the talks were so inspiring that some of us had to remind ourselves that we weren't actually at a motivational seminar! It was amazing to see the impact that our event had on the audience, sparking conversations and ideas among attendees.

Pink Party

During my Events and Festival Management BA program, my team and I were tasked with organizing a fundraising event, and we decided to plan a Pink Party in support of Breast Cancer awareness for students and young adults. Our aim was to create a safe and fun environment for attendees, while also increasing awareness about this important issue. To achieve this, we organized a variety of activities such as boob-themed games, a Photo Booth with the pink ribbon, and a DJ to keep the energy high. In addition, we used our social media channels to share information about charities supporting breast cancer patients and engage with our followers through trivia games and posts. Our efforts paid off as we successfully raised £720 for Breast Cancer Now to fund research and provide care to those affected.

Book reading - fundraising

As part of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, I got to flex my creative writing skills and boy, did I have a blast! From crafting compelling characters to exploring unique themes, I poured my heart and soul into writing 24 short stories. But that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to see my stories in print, so I rallied and finally published my very own book. Of course, I couldn't just stop there. I organised a book launch event and donated the proceeds to a dog shelter near Sofia, Bulgaria. It was heartwarming to see the community come together and support such a worthy cause. I mean, who knew writing stories could help save the lives of furry friends?
